Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrive in Kigali & Transfer to Akagera National Park
The driver picks you up at the airport and embarks on a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park near the Tanzania border. Beautiful sceneries line the route. Check-in at Akagera Game Lodge and rest. After lunch, go on one of Africa's most wonderful afternoon game drives.
Full Game Drive & Lake Ihema Boat Cruise
Shortly after breakfast, the driver takes you on an amazing morning game drive — elephants, lions, giraffes, and predators are possible. In the afternoon, a fascinating Lake Ihema boat cruise gives you close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and a wealth of water birds.
Drive to Nyungwe Forest — Ethnographic Museum & King's Palace
After breakfast, the dedicated driver/guide takes you to Nyungwe Forest National Park — the largest forest in East and Central Africa. The tour also covers the Ethnographic Museum and the King's Palace in Butare and Nyanza.
Chimpanzee Trekking & Nyungwe Canopy Walk
Shortly after breakfast, proceed for chimpanzee trekking — meeting different species of monkeys and birds along the way. The afternoon features the fascinating forest canopy walk — the only such experience in Africa.
Full Day Drive to Volcanoes National Park
A whole day drive to Rwanda's gorilla trekking heartland — the Volcanoes National Park at Ruhengeri. Check-in and evening briefing in preparation for the gorilla trek.
Gorilla Trekking & Musanze Caves Exploration
The gorilla trekking experience followed by an afternoon exploration of the Musanze caves — a 2km lava tube cave colony containing hundreds of bats and steeped in historical significance from both refuge and the genocide period.

Final day brings us back to Kigali for departure. Time permitting, explore the city for last-minute shopping.
